Image
Most families in present era plan their family size based on convenience. However, when we look into philosophy, developmental science, maternal health & evolutionary psychology reveals a meaningful structure that exists. A calibrated age gap, that is five years between children, opens up important developmental & relational benefits that smaller gaps often miss. The Spectrum to be understood - No Age Gap vs. Small Gaps When children are born closely together or as twins, they are often at similar cognitive & emotional stages of development. Apparent Advantages of Small Gaps: They share the same peer groups & similar ideas, providing each other with companionship for play & mutual understanding. Hidden Disadvantages: This close relationship can lead to unexpected psychological & physical stress. I will explain how in later part of this blog.
